DIGNITARIES COMING TO GLOUCESTER CITY-The South African Ambassador to the United States, Ebrahim Rasool, in conjunction with Gerrit van der Merwe, chairman of the Western Cape Citrus Producers Forum and Citrus Growers of Southern Africa will visit Holt Marine Terminals, Gloucester City, N.J. on Tuesday, August 16, together with Members of Congress, regional elected officials, importers, business leaders.
Ambassador Rasool is visiting to personally observe and learn more about the vital citrus industry from South Africa and its impact in New Jersey and across the U.S.
The Ambassador and 50 guests will be present as the ship Sea Phoenix offloads about 24,000 cartons of oranges and clementines bound for U.S. supermarkets.
Members of the Keystone State Boychoir will perform both the U.S. and South African national anthems and a medley of South African folk songs.
TIME TO END FREE \”BENNIES\” FOR PART-TIME POLITICIANS-Glad to see the West Deptford Township Committee people adopt an ordinance to end the medical benefit for committee members. This move, taken last week at a committee meeting, was long overdue especially with the Township facing a $142 million deficit.
